Mike Schweizers Melodiereichtum, Jörgen Welanders virtuose Tuba und Peter Perfidos kraftvoll swingender Beat kennzeichen diese Besetzung.
Peter Perfido, der Amerikaner aus den Vogesen, ehemals Sideman von Jazzgrößen wie Chet Baker,Lee Konitz und David Friesen, arbeitet zur Zeit als Schlagzeuger in den Bands von Bob Degen, Michel Pilz und Geoff Goodman.
Der Schwede Jörgen Welander gehört zu den wenigen Tubisten , die die Tuba professionell in populären Stilrichtungen einsetzen. Zu den Highlights seiner Karriere gehören mehrere Europatourneen mit "Howard Johnson and Gravity" und dem gefeierten Jazzprojekt der "Berliner Philharmoniker".
Jörgen Welander (Tuba)
* 1966 in Strängnäs, Sweden,Joergen Welander has been living in Germany for years as a freelance tuba player and e-bassist specialisting in Jazz and modern classical music. For many years, he has been playing in numerous Jazz and funk bands, for which he has also written original compositions. In Freiburg (Germany), he has taken part in several theater productions (such as "Black Rider"), and he has been the main tuba player and member of the "Basler Sinfonietta" in Basel, Switzerland since 1990. His meeting with world-famous tuba player Howard Johnson inspired him to continue to concentrate on jazz tuba. Several tours of Europe with "Howard Johnson's Gravity" (CD) followed. Shortly thereafter, he joined Thomas Zoller's "Zoller meets the Masterfranks"(CD). He is member of the "Jazzproject" created by the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.
Mike Schweizer (Soprano, tenor saxophone)
1953 in Freiburg Mike Schweizer studied saxophon at the Conservatory in Graz (Austria). He has been living in Freiburg since 1981 as a freelance musician and music teacher. He has worked for several theaters (Freiburg, Wilhelmshaven, Frankfurt), for film productions (ZDF, Medienwerstatt Freiburg), and played for readings (Hans Wollschläger, Oskar Pastior, H.C. Artmann, Hoimar von Dithfurt, Inger Christensen and others). He was on concert tours in the Soviet Union several times with the German-American group "Two Duos". He is a member of the "Silent Movie Music Company" (Japan, Greece, Island, Italy), the sax trio "Sax'n'Hop" (Iran, Azerbeidjan, USA, all over Europe)and,in former times the comedy duo "Clown meets Sax" with Georgo Peugot (gigs worldwide). As a teacher, Mike Schweizer is in great demand among all kinds of institutions and workshops due to his unique teaching methods.
Peter Perfido
Began playing the drums when he was 8 years old.
From 1977 to 1979, he studied marimba and xylophone at the Hartford
Conservatory of Music.
In June 1980, he had an unforgettable lesson with Bob Moses.
From 1980 to 1982, he studied at the Cornish Institute of the Arts in Seattle,
Washington. Private studies with Jerry Granelli.
